Optional, never required, and you can stop them in one word.
You can use Exotic Schedules with text messages switched off: see your schedule, set your availability, ask for time off, give a shift away, pick one up. Nothing is withheld from you for saying no, and your manager cannot switch texts on for you.

Inside the app: Settings → Notifications → "Text me about my shifts". The switch is off until you turn it on yourself, and the app records the day you did. There is no pre-ticked box anywhere, and consent is asked for on its own — never bundled with agreeing to anything else.
Nothing else. No advertising, no venue promotions, no third party's messages.
Message frequency varies — typically a few messages a week, and more in a week when the schedule changes often.
Message and data rates may apply. They are charged by your mobile company, not by us.
Reply STOP to any message and they end immediately. Reply HELP for help, or email support@exoticschedules.com. You can also turn the switch off inside the app.
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
When you sign in, we text you a one-time code to prove the phone is yours. That is part of signing in, not part of this program, and stopping shift notices does not stop sign-in codes.
